Field survey notebooks of Sam Dolgaard, 1931-1940.

Timber surveyor's notebooks recording timber conditions, and/or damage due to storm, fire, and trespass, on land parcels throughout northern Minnesota (1931, 1932-1933, 1935, and 1937-1940). Dolgaard was headquartered in Bemidji and Kelliher. Notes by himself and his assistants cover especially Koochiching, Beltrami, Cass, Hubbard, Itasca, and Becker counties, with some entries for St. Louis, Mahnomen, and Clearwater counties.

The Pine Island Civilian Conservation Corp camp was established on June 21, 1933 and operated until August 1934. The site sat idle until January 1935, when it became a transient camp under the Work Projects Administration (WPA) and State Emergency Relief Administration.
